KuCoin highlights compliance, security push in 2025 annual review

KuCoin has released its 2025 Annual Review, titled “A Renewed Brand. A Year Built on Trust,” outlining a defining year for the exchange as it sharpened its focus on compliance, security, and long-term platform sustainability.

The report describes 2025 as a turning point in KuCoin’s evolution.

Anchored by its goal of building a trusted blockchain infrastructure for the secure and transparent flow of value, the company moved from a period centred on resilience into a new phase defined by trust, regulatory alignment, and institutional maturity.

While continuing to serve a global user base, KuCoin refined its platform and brand to reflect a stronger commitment to asset protection and regulatory compliance.

Key developments during the year included significant compliance progress in Europe and Australia, the launch of a $2 billion Trust Project, and the completion of four internationally recognised security certifications—steps that KuCoin says position the platform for its next phase of growth.

Despite a volatile market backdrop, KuCoin posted stable operational performance in 2025.

Average daily spot trading volume reached $4.76 billion, a 55% increase year on year, while average daily futures volume rose about 30% to $6.47 billion.

This placed KuCoin fourth globally by futures trading volume. The performance reflected a measured strategy focused on liquidity, risk management, and platform stability, with growth deliberately aligned to long-term priorities around security, transparency, and disciplined risk controls.

Reflecting on the year, BC Wong, CEO of KuCoin, said:

“2025 required us to make deliberate choices focused on long-term responsibility rather than short-term momentum. Compliance and security are not optional for KuCoin — they are foundational to how we protect users and contribute to the industry’s sustainable future.”

Security remained a central focus throughout the year. KuCoin secured what it described as the industry’s “Quadruple Crown” of security certifications—SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 27701, and CCSS—highlighting its push toward institutional-grade safeguards.

The exchange also recorded 36 consecutive months of Proof of Reserves verification, independently audited by Hacken, and was ranked first globally for security by CER.live.

These efforts were reinforced by the launch of KuCoin’s $2 billion Trust Project, aimed at strengthening asset protection, risk management, and long-term operational resilience.

In parallel, KuCoin continued to advance its regulatory alignment as a key component of platform trust.

KuCoin recorded further progress on regulatory alignment across several key markets in 2025.

In Australia, the company obtained AUSTRAC registration and opened a local office in Sydney.

In Europe, KuCoin secured a MiCA license through KuCoin EU, allowing it to operate under the European Union’s unified regulatory framework.

In Turkey, the exchange submitted an application to the Capital Markets Board (SPK) in line with local regulatory requirements.

This regulatory and security groundwork also informed KuCoin’s product strategy, ensuring innovation remained aligned with responsibility and long-term sustainability.

Product development during the year focused on core infrastructure and user experience enhancements.

KuCoin expanded participation-focused offerings such as GemPool, HODLer Airdrops, and Spotlight, providing users with structured engagement options and built-in protection mechanisms.

Artificial intelligence became a larger part of the platform with the launch of KIA, KuCoin’s crypto-native AI assistant, and KuCoin Feed, an AI-powered market intelligence hub.

User experience improvements included the rollout of KuCoin App 4.0 and KuCoin Lite, designed to balance advanced features with greater ease of use.

The mining ecosystem also grew with the integration of KuMining and KuPool, helping KuCoin reach a top-four global position in LTC/DOGE hashrate.
